At la Madeleine, you can share our "vie de château”: relax or read in the reception rooms, sunbathe in the garden on the deckchairs facing the Seine, have a drink under the peristyle, watch a movie on big screen in the white lounge or, in the winter, get warm with a cup of tea by the fire. You can of course walk in the 27-acre park leading down to the Seine and with the help of a map, see the “wolf’s leap ", the "deer pond", the fountain carved in the rock, caves and underground passages, the tower with its artesian well and all sorts of other attractions ....
Our dog Valentine, always happy to assist our guests in the woods, will take you back to the castle to share an apéritif with us. We can lend you bikes (adults and children) for rides along the Seine up to Giverny or Vernon ... or if you prefer water, there is a canoe rental club very near the Madeleine.
Following the towpath along the Seine you can reach Vernon on one side or, on the other side, Pressagny l’Orgueilleux, a charming little village within a mile of the castle, whose streets are lined with beautiful old walls... A few hundred meters from the Madeleine is the Chesney castle, where our neighbor, Madame Francine Henrich, has assembled a priceless collection, which closely combines Western and oriental art, from 15th century works to very contemporary painters. If you are interested we can arrange for you to visit the galleries and the beautiful park which exhibits the works of this remarkable collection.
